Old Sawmill District Redevelopment

Silver Park was the capstone part of a $5.7 million project to revamp Missoula’s Old Sawmill District. The 14.5-acre park holds the riverfront trail’s newest connection, a new boat ramp and parking lot. The park’s shelters and pavilions are constructed from sinker logs pulled from the Blackfoot and Clark Fork restoration project.

The project was a collaborative effort amongst agencies and other designers that included surrounding trails and the new railroad trestle and Wyoming Street extension, which now connects Orange and Russell Streets.

IMEG provided the engineering design, surveying, permitting, contract and SWPPP administration, construction inspection, and project certification and closeout. Additionally, IMEG provided coordination of electrical, irrigation, mechanical, landscaping, and architectural design services.

Phase III included asphalt trail design, a pedestrian bridge, lighting, irrigation, and landscaping; phase IV included a 14.5-acre park with decomposed granite trails, pavilions, restroom, parking lot, irrigation, and landscaping.

The project team, including IMEG, was awarded the “2013 Region 8 Civil Engineering Award for the Project of the Year less than $10 Million” by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
